The Brigidna Women's Championship, also called the Brigidnan Women's Cup and unofficially the "Brigidnan Cup", held every four years, is the main competition in women's association football between national teams of the Brigidnan Confederation. The competition is the women's equivalent of the Brigidnan Championship.

History[edit]

Following the success of the 1556 and 1560 SIFA Women's World Cups, the first Brigidnan Women's Championship, then named Brigidnan Women's Supercup, was held in Galeae in 1563. Until 1571, the Brigidna Championship was also used as Brigidnan qualifiers for the SIFA Women's World Cup; starting in 1574, the group system used in men's qualifiers was also used for women's national teams.

Eight Brigidna Women's Championship have taken place. The most recent holding of the competition is the 1591 Brigidna Women's Chamiponship hosted by Harmajaa in Summer 1591. Only one national team has won the Brigidna Women's Championship twice, Aurentine, which won in 1571 and 1575. The team which has qualified more times to the Brigidna Women's Championship is Lanlania with seven.

The tournament was initially played as a four team event. The 1567 edition was the first that was played with eight teams. The third expansion happened in 1583 when 12 teams participated. From 1599 onwards 16 teams are expected to compete for the championship.
