Barsah is a Arkcic polytheistic religion, native to the continent of Ostara and most common in Verde Emeral. The religions adherents believe in five gods known as the Holy Tavan, the embodiment of the physical, accompanied by the Unholy Tavan, the five deities of the ethereal. Together they are the Arvan, the pantheon of ten gods that control the life of all humans. Followers of the religion are Barsahians, and the worship of these deities through prayer and sacrifice makes up a large part of Barsahian life. The religions governing body is the High Shashin, led by the Ihk Ider, believed to be the the avatar of the Sky God.
The religion has historically been the family cult of the Orig family, originating in the river valleys of Inner Ostara. It was the smallest among the Arkcic religions until the Orig chieftains conquered Verde Emeral in the 13th century, where it was imposed as the state religion by their splintered descendants and reached a peak of over fifty million followers. It's status as a state religion continued under the People's Paradise of Verde Emeral up to just ten years ago before the country was finally secularised in 1555 CE with the fall of communism. The numbers of adherents of Barsah both in the present and past is hard to determine due to the previous illegality of other faiths within the country, meaning the population remains distrustful of revealing their true religious beliefs.
