The Akitian association football league system is organized in a pyramidal structure similar to that of other countries. The basic principle of promotion and relegation is followed, however in order to make it into the top-tier leagues a team must be backed by a town including the local government, rather than just having a corporate sponsor.

Overview[edit]

The top three levels are organized by the Akitsu Professional League. As the name implies, all leaugues operated by the Akitsu Professional League are fully professional. The Akitsu Professional League consists of the Imperial League (I-League), National League (N-League), and Challengers League (C-League).

The fourth level is the Akitsu Soccer League, it is a semi-professional league that consists of teams from all around Akitsu including amateur, professional, and company clubs.

At the fifth level there are several regional leagues run in parallel by regional football associations, divided by the political and geographic boundaries of Akitsu. At the sixth level are the provincial leagues, run by football associations of various provinces in Akitsu, largely divided by political boundaries. Some regional and provincial leagues have multiple divisions.
