Template:Infobox military The Tiejungo Armed Forces or TAF, is the military arm of the Total Defence of the Republic of Tiejungo; as well as the military component of the Ministry of Defense.

The TAF has five branches: the Tiejungo Army, the Republic of Tiejungo Air Force (RTAF), and the Republic of Tiejungo Navy (RTN), the Tiejungo Military Police and Republic of Tiejungo Reserve Force. The TAF protects the interests, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Tiejungo from external threats.

The Tiejungo Armed Forces differs from most armed forces in the world in many ways. Differences include the mandatory conscription of women and its structure, which emphasizes close relations between the army, navy, and air force. The TAF is one of Tiejungo society's most prominent institutions, influencing the country's economy, culture and political scene. The TAF is compromised of a core of highly trained and well motivated active military force that, in case of invasion is capable of mobilizing a large amount of reservists that have gone though basic military training. Reservists, known as National Servicemen (NSmen) make up more than 90% of the military in case of mobilization and must go though two years of training followed by monthly training sessions and yearly exercises.

Total Defense Program

Total Defense (or TD) is the name of Tiejungo's comprehensive defense strategy. It is based on the understanding that besides military action, aggressors can also defeat the country by wrecking its economic systems, tearing its social fabric apart, targeting Tiejungo's citizens beliefs and commitment to defense, and its ability to recover from disasters, both natural and man-made. The Total Defense concept encompasses five key aspects – military, civil, economic, social and psychological defense – and focuses on the need for each Tiejungo citizen to play his or her part to defend the nation.

The Five Aspects

"Military Defense" consists of the Tiejungo Armed Forces (TAF), including its citizen soldiers. Their mission is to "enhance Tiejungo's peace and security through deterrence and diplomacy, and should these fail, to secure a swift and decisive victory over the aggressor". As part of the mission, the TAF strives to maintain a high state of operational readiness 24/7.

"Civil Defense" is about ensuring the citizens of Tiejungo know what to do in times of an emergency. The Tiejungo Civil Defence Force (TCDF) supports this aspect of Total Defense. However, if Tiejungo encounters a nation-wide emergency (e.g.: terrorism act or war), the TCDF will not be able to cope with the demands of the situation. Hence, it is crucial to rope in citizens to help their fellow citizens. To facilitate this, the TCDF recruits and trains civil defense volunteers in first aid, rescue and evacuation procedures, and shelter management.

"Economic Defense" is defined as maintaining the economy of the country and its ability to compete in the world, as well as environmental protection. It also involves helping Tiejungo and its citizens stay relevant in the global economy and putting in place economic systems to ensure that the Tiejungo's economy does not collapse in times of crisis.

"Social Defense" is about keeping the social fabric strong and ensuring that the citizens of Tiejungo live in harmony regardless of race or religion. This is especially important because Tiejungo is a multi-racial and multi-religious society.

"Psychological Defense" is about loyalty, commitment to Tiejungo, and having the will power and resilience to overcome challenges. This is the component that would determine if the citizens of Tiejungo will stay to fight or abandon the country when it is in trouble.

Tiejungo Army

The Tiejungo army is comprised of 198,787 men and women along with several thousand vehicles. The mission of the Army is to deter aggression, and should deterrence fail, to secure a swift and decisive victory. In peacetime, the Army is to be ready and capable of conducting a spectrum of operations to protect Tiejungo's national interests and the well-being of its citizens.

The Tiejungo Army focuses on leveraging technology and weapon systems as "force-multipliers". The Tiejungo Army is capable of conducting amphibious operations with a highly developed logistics force, across all three services of Army, Navy and Air Force, as seen in the peace support operations and humanitarian assistance disaster relief (HADR) missions.

Aside from hardware, the Tiejungo Army heavily invests in its "software". Largely made up of tertiary-educated conscripts and career regular soldiers, who are continually upgrading their skills with higher education, well-trained and technically proficient.

To familiarize all soldiers with practical fighting experience in case of national exigencies, military exercises up to division level are conducted many times annually, training almost all combat NS units to full-spectrum, full-scale war scenario stimulation. Divisional exercises involve the integration of the national air force and navy to train its troopers with its combined arms, tri-service joint operations. Due to space constraints, some large-scale exercises are conducted overseas unilaterally. Bilateral training and exchanges are also common between friendly nations. The Tiejungo Army also conducts "tough, realistic and safe training in order to fulfill the Army’s mission."

Organization

The Army is headed by the Chief of Army (COA). Assisting him are the Chief of Staff, General Staff[8] and the Commander, Army Training and Doctrine Command. There are also six functional departments collectively known as the General Staff and an Inspectorate. The six functional departments handle personnel, intelligence, operations, logistics, plans and training respectively. Each department is headed by an Assistant Chief of the General Staff (ACGS). Also advising the COA are the Senior Specialist Staff Officers (SSSOs): Infantry, Guards, Armour, Commando, Artillery, Engineers and Signals.

The army consists of the following Combat Arms, which are integrated with one another to form the Divisional and Non-divisional assets:

The Republic of Tiejungo Air Force

The Republic of Tiejungo Air Force (ROTAF) is the aviation branch of the Republic of Tiejungo Armed Forces. Comprised of 38,789 men and women and flying over 396 aircraft, The ROTAF's primary mission is the defense of the airspace over and around Tiejungo. Priorities of the ROCAF include the development of long range reconnaissance and surveillance networks, integrating C4ISTAR systems to increase battle effectiveness, procuring counterstrike weapons, next generation fighters, and hardening airfields and other facilities to survive a surprise attack.

Organization

The ROTAF is led by the Chief of the Air Force (CAF). The Air Staff is structured into five major commands, the Air Defense and Operations Command (ADOC), the Air Combat Command (ACC), the Participation Command (PC), the Air Power Generation Command (APGC) and the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) Command (UC).

Air Defense and Operations Command or ADOC is the principal agency in charge of planning and executing peacetime operations and air defence. ADOC is also responsible for the development and operational readiness of the command and control and ground-based air defense units of the ROTAF. ADOC comprises the Air Surveillance Control Group (ASCG), National Air Defense Group (ADG) and Air Operations Control Group (AOCG).[10]

UAV Command is in charge of the ROTAF's sizeable UAV force. The main structures under UC are Operations & System Development Group (OSDG), headed by the Deputy Commander of UC and Squadrons and UAV Training School (UTS).

Participation Command comprises the Operations Development Group (ODG), the Helicopter Group (HeliG), the Tactical Air Support Group (TASG), and the Divisional Air Defense Group (DAG).

Air Combat Command brings fighter, bomber and transport squadrons under one command, with central planning, control and execution of the air battle in operations. The ACC consists of the Integrated System Development Group (ISDG), Operations Development Group (ODG), Integrated System Development Group (ISDG), Fighter Group (FG), Bomber Group(BG) and Transport Group (TG).

Air Operations Control Group will enhance the missions of the ACC by ensuring that all air bases remain operational at all times, as well as improving the servicing and turn-around of aircraft to ensure continuous and responsive operations. The APGC is set up to enable the ROTAF to generate and sustain effective, timely and robust air power to meet the operational needs of the TAF. With the APGC, higher operational efficiency within each ROTAF Air Base, and secondly, greater integration across bases are achieved. The APGC consists of the Operations Development Group (ODG) which is compromised of four groups: Airfield Maintenance Squadron (AMS), Ground Logistics Squadron (GLS), Field Defense Squadron (FDS) and Flying Support Squadron (FSS).

Tiejungo Military Police

The Republic of Tiejungo Military Police is a military police body under the Ministry of National Defense of the Republic of Tiejungo. Unlike military police in many other countries, ROCMP is a separate branch of the ROC Armed Forces and combines civilian and military police duties.

ROTMP is responsible for enforcing military law, maintaining military discipline, performing combat duty in times of emergency, providing security for certain governmental facilities such as including the Presidential Palace, and performing counter-terrorism and VIP protection operations. The commissioned and non-commissioned officers, and the enlisted persons of the MP Corps have the authority to assist public prosecutors or to be commanded by prosecutors to investigate crime activities. Military Police troops are the main force to secure and prevent high-profile criminal activities, heavy violence, and frequent society disorders or riots. The Security MP troops are still one of the important forces that uphold the law and order of society in the Republic of Tiejungo.
