Template:Infobox ship The Empire Class, also know previously as the (CV-7 Class), is a class of aircraft carrier produced and in service with Drahen. The Empire Class consists of four aircraft carriers, the first of which, the IDN Empire, was commissioned in 1572. The second ship of the class, the IDN Valerii is going to be commissioned in 1574, and the remaining two ships of the class, the IDN Telos, which is currently under construction, and the IDN Traus, are supposed to be commissioned in 1577 and 1580 respectively.

Design[edit]

The Empire Class aircraft carriers utilize the more traditional CATOBAR design are With assistance from Oslanburg, the Empire Class is an significant from the previous class that Drahen operated, the Falsea Class, and have larger storage spaces for fuel and ordinance. The flight deck is 290 m (820.2 ft) long by 45 m (147.6 ft) wide and the landing area is angled at 9 degrees off of the ship's axis. The carrier has three elevators, each with a loading capacity of 30 tonnes, one fore and aft on the starboard side and one aft on the port side. The carrier has a total of three catapults, two bow and one waist. The route of weapons to the aircraft stops on the flight deck has been replanned to accommodate higher rearming rates, despite the lower number of elevators, and in turn higher potential sortie rates.

The Empire Class aircraft carrier is the first Drah Naval ship to use integrated electric propulsion, with four 20 MW induction motors (arranged in tandem) electric propulsion motors that drive the twin variable-pitch propellers. The entire ship is powered by 2 40 MW gas turbines, assisted by 4 diesel generator sets (two 10 MW and two 12 MW). The ship has a single island superstructure containing both the ship's navigation bridge and flying control (flyco) centres. The hangar deck measures 200 by 43 meters with a height of 6.7 to 10 metres (22 to 33 ft), large enough to accommodate up to forty fixed and rotary wing aircraft. The ship has advanced self defense systems, consisting of 8x CIWS and 12x Dual Angled SAM Launchers, along with attachments for miniguns throughout the ship.

The ship's radars will be the (blank1), for long-range wide-area search, the (blank2) maritime medium-range active electronically scanned array radar, and a navigation radar. The (blank1) has a fully automatic detection and track initiation that can track up to 1,000 air targets at a range of around 400 kilometres (250 mi).(Blank1) is reputed to be able to track a target the size of a baseball over 20 kilometres (12 mi) away, with a maximum range of 200 km. They will also be fitted with an Electro Optical System (EOS) and Glide Path Camera (GPC).

Munitions and ammunition handling is accomplished using a mechanised weapons handling system (MWHS). The MWHS moves palletised munitions from the magazines and weapon preparation areas, along track ways and via several lifts, forward and aft of port and starboard. The tracks can carry a pallet to magazines, the hangar, weapons preparation areas, and the flight deck. In a change from normal procedures the magazines are unmanned, the movement of pallets is controlled from a central location, and manpower is only required when munitions are being initially stored or prepared for use. This system speeds up delivery and reduces the size of the crew by automation.

Carrier Air Wing[edit]

The vessels are expected to be capable of carrying 50 aircraft, a maximum of 42 jets and 8 helicopters. A routine deployment however, consists of (#) blank, (#) blank, (#) blank, and (#) blank. An alternative package would be littoral assault, with a mix of (#) blank, (#) blank, (#) blank, and (#) blank. A total of 10 landing spots are marked out on the flight deck, allowing for the operation of to medium helicopters, with a potential lift capacity of a company of troops. The hangars are designed for the are designed for medium-lift helicopter operations without blade folding whilst the aircraft lifts can accommodate two helicopters with unfolded blades.
