Atanah Damkina Istar

Atanah Damkina Istar, High Priestess and leader of the collective cults of Iramism, is the religious ruler of Ahara and has at least as much political power as her secular counterpart and political ally, Baal Aidar Kammurabi. She is one of the youngest persons to ever attain the office of High Priestess, after a bloodless coup which resulted in the deposition of her predecessor, who was accused of monogamy (an act which is forbidden to the priestesses of the Iramist faith) and subsequently exiled. It is unclear whether or not the accusation was true, but the event, which was the culmination of complex political machinations within the hierarchy of the Aharan clergy, exposed her as a shrewd political leader, despite her age and lack of experience.

Atanah has a history of eliminating political rivals and is known as a manipulative woman who always pursues some hidden agenda of her own. It is rumored that she has an affair with the Baal and even that she is the principal architect behind Aidar's coup, but whether or not this is true, it is clear that the partnership between her and the Baal has established a secure and stable power base for the two of them.
